How many 'guest rooms' do you have?
I have a 3 bedroom duplex which is quite small really and we can just about accommodate one other adult without the place feeling overcrowded - despite two other bedrooms.
We have a guest bedroom - although there is only a futon in it at the moment and we need to get a proper bed and a chest of drawers.
The other spare bedroom which is quite a bit bigger is used for our tumble drier, cat bed, cat scratch post, ironing board - that kind of thing and as soon as we have the money we will decorate it to make it into an office for me.
Last year someone I know called me selfish for not having two guest rooms as her son would like his own room 'for when he came'.
I said bollocks, the larger room is needed to accommodate my desk when I get it plus whatever else I choose to put in there and the smaller room is quite adequate.
Isnt it funny how potential visitors feel that they can tell you how to do things with regards to your own home should they decide to visit. Although I have spread the word that hiring an apartment is a better idea.
It's not as though my place is big because it's not but its all we can afford so we make the best of it.But by Christ am I glad I don't have 5 bedrooms or something - although I have been quite firm so far when it comes to people inviting themselves for a holiday.
So my question is, how many rooms do you allocate for guests, do you have a limit as to how many people you would accommodate?

btw, the answer is 2 but that's because the youngest has just moved in with the oldest. But really they should just be grateful to have a roof over their heads

We have 2 spare bedrooms. one with a shower and toilet and the other is full of crap.
It doesn't matter though as no one likes us so we don't have any guests

We have 4 beds - all taken, but we do have 2 family rooms, so if needed, one of those could be turned into a bedroom for the night, or however long needed.

We have one guest room.. has a shower, loo and OH's office in it (therefore a working PC).. plus a bed.. double one at that...
My answer to people who want to come and visit is simple.. they are welcome literally for as long as they want.. provided they do what they want and look after the space (ie, clean said shower/loo.. do their own laundry, incl the bedding and mop the floor once a week).. god, I am vicious when I get started.. if they want brekkie or food then help themselves.. but clean up after themselves..
My mum phoned the other week (she lives in Italy) she was saying that she washed for a week after my bro and his wife plus 5 kids had come to stay.. all the towels.. all the bedding.. yadda yadda yadda..
My son was on the webcam and said (quite shocked) "erhh? how come they don't wash their own towels and bedding?"...(my son is only 12) my mother started laughing.. "so.." she said "is this what i am to expect when I come visit?"...
Yep mother.. yes! haha! sorry luv.. but if you come, you have the space.. you have the room and equipment.. it's just that the "maid" is out to lunch! LMAO!
Em x
PS I do love my mother quite dearly.. I will promise to cook for her and me Dad each night.. perrromise!

A true friend or decent guest will be the one you really miss when they have gone.
They wont take any part of your hospitality for granted.
