You should try taking the time to think about what the number mean... NZ took 18% - most likely retirement or something similar... NZ has been going down the toilet business wise since the early 90s. The other top four took 40% and are countries that are more unlikely retirement related... especially when you look at the break down of the origin of those that are permanently leaving - more than half were australian... Balls back in you court

Maybe You didn't read all of the article it was called the brain drain as referred to by the Senator. The whole article is written about the loss of skilled labour...

Default New Aussie Government and Immigration

Tentatively. when new government can be formed. When this govt will be effective means when they can give Go Ahead to current immi policies so that visas start flowing once again.

No-one can tell what policies the new government will decide to introduce, or whether they will keep existing policies. When anyone knows it will be all over the media and on here. in the meantime speculation is pointless and may cause distress to people wiating to apply, so please just be patient.

Merged with other threads on the subject.
