Or perhaps because the immigration forum isn't really the place for an opinion thread on any potential fallout from the election, even if its being looked at from a possible migrant's point of view?

Because it has nothing to do with immigration would be my guess. The immigration section is for sharing facts, not speculating on what might happen because there has been an election.

Exactly.
The Immigration forum is designed for factual discussion, not the kind of threads that merely speculate and then cause unnecessary worry for people.

So a discussion about the implications of the election result solely on the currently stalled migration system has nothing to do with migration?

On the migration section, have you looked through it lately?

Jam packed with subcontinent PLE and CO update speculation, you might just as well move all the SMP threads too since they can only be based on speculation. That would unsettle the chooks though wouldn't it

Bit like a ref booking a player for taking his shirt off but bottling the penalty decision

I would say it would come down to how good his tits were as to whether it would also be a penalty

I really appreciate your point, when ever I try to discuss this in the open forum with related to the matter of migration the thread will be moved or closed!
i.e: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...45#post8795945

I don't know what's the reason

Answer to Pollyana's comment before closing the above thread : As long as government hang up in caretaker mode there won't be new 176 applicants so you might not need to open new threads for each month to discuss the progress of 176. I don't think any body received state sponsorships for the 2010/ 2011 year yet!

If you take a look at my 1st post in this thread, its all about sharing opinions, 176 freshers don't have any facts for the time due to the political deadlock, I was trying to brainstorm with like minded people on what kind of future will remain for us. Moving thread here made it flooded with off topic posts. Generally in other threads when there are off topic posts moderators involve in a positive way.... But I haven't seen it here.

The monthly threads in the Immi forum are opened by applicants in that month to discuss ALL vsia applications made in that month. We do not want the Immi forum fragmented more than it is already. This is an Admin decision from long ago. If you don't like the way the forum is run there are plenty of others around.

Furthermore the future of migration policy is a matter for ALL posters to be involved in, not just those who might be emigrating in the future. Hence it is in here so that everyone can discuss it and voice opinions. When there are FACTS on the future they will be posted in Immigration.

Pollyana, you have that ADMIN decision in a sticky thread ?? or you have restricted creating new threads in any way? If you guys not letting people to create new threads under immi section you would have blocked it already.

You can create whatever threads you like. However if they are better suited to another forum they will be moved and if deemed appropriate they will be closed. This discussion is now ended on here, if yiou wish to continue arguing please do so OFF the public forum as per the rules.

Why don't you contact the site's admin and ask them for the policies? It's been a very longstanding policy of this forum (for longer than I've been a member anyway) that the immigration forum is for factual discussions with no chat or speculation. Posters are welcome to open threads in that section that are on-topic sharing facts. Speculation, rumour, gossip, thoughts with no supporting documentation go in the Barbie section of the forum where they can be discussed and speculated on.

As Polly said, if you're not happy about the way this forum runs there are loads out there for you to try.
