How do you change license plates in Oz?
Bought a car couple years ago in Sydney and rego/plates are NSW. Now that I've moved to Queensland, I'd like to get QLD plates before I sell it and head back to London. The person I spoke to at the RACQ was very vague & seemed uncertain herself so was wondering if any expats here could help.

Go to Queensland Transport office, fill in change of plate/state form, hand it to person behind counter, possibly hand over money and Robert's your mothers brother.

We did two cars here from NSW.
With the first one, they just gave us the new plates, but didn't ask for the old NSW ones.
But with the second car, they asked us to fetch in the NSW plates to swap over for the QLD ones.

When I changed my plates for personalised ones they wanted the old ones back and if I remember rightly, our first car here had WA plates, QT wanted them to send back to WA as well.
