I really am in awe of people that move to oz having never been there. I'm interested to know how they decided about where they go???
It wasn't personal experience easy and I'd been before & knew where I wanted to go??
Also, did it live up to your expectations? And if not why??
Just wondering, .........ere in the pissin rain

Sydney was too expensive
Melbourne had crap weather
Perth was too isolated
So it was out of ADL and Brisbane, we had a friend in brisbane and it seemed warmer
There where our views before we moved out anyway.

So we have to live there for two years.

My folks had bought here so the descision was made for us in a way. When we looked around for land we found we got more for much less here so we stayed. We're half way between Brisbane & Bundaberg so can be living the high life in Brissie or diving the reef up at Bundy within a couple of hours each way. Tin Can Bay is 1/2 an hour away so I can go fishing after work, during work or instead of work

Similar reasons to Cresta - my parents lived here. Helps that we fell in love with the area of course.

Get a map, get a pin, close eyes, rotate pin in hand, stick pin in map...voila!

Originally we headed out to Melbourne as we had family there, didnt settle as we were in one of the outer suburbs, so headed back to UK after 7 years. Didnt last long back there and decided to give Aus another go. Next time around we made our own decision based on our knowledge of Aus at the time. We were undecided between Brisbane and Perth but settled on Brissie. We landed on the Gold Coast 11 years ago, and have never regretted it, weather and location perfect
I would honestly rather go back to Yorkshire than Melbournes outer suburbs.

We were looking for a city devoid of character that shuts down at 8pm.
It felt like we had won the lottery when we landed in Perth 15 months ago ...
Still the beaches are nice *yawn*

We initially thought of Brisbane for some reason - but when it looked like our visa was going to be granted we did more research...
Sydney - too expensive (I'd definitely live there is I could have a harbour front penthouse!)
Brisbane - too humid in summer, maybe not so vibrant as Melbourne (haven't lived there, so won't judge!)
Perth - didn't even consider, no particular reason - just not drawn to it.
Adelaide - as above really and I do like to be near a big city
Melbourne - perfect as it can be for us:

Melbourne - perfect as it can be for us:
- Good job opportunities
- Great weather, as I like seasons
- Vibrant, cosmopolitan and cultured city (IMO)
- Skiing within reasonable driving distance
- Affordable housing

I wasnt meaning that these suburbs were anything like Yorkshire either, you got the wrong message there, and also we get four seasons in Brissie
