ha ha - yes, I agree.

I have read many comments re "can't sell", and I always think, "but I bet if the asking price was £1, then you could sell it, so what you really mean is - I won't sell in the current market -"

Not saying I don't understand why you won't sell, but just be accurate re what the situation is!

I do sympathise with them to some extent because I have notionally lost a fair chunk on my London property fortunately it is rented out and I am making a healthy profit but it isn't fun to feel like you are loosing money all the time. But I enjoyed the years where I felt I was making money hand over fist in capital growth so I can live with the downturn. I really see the comming recession as a massive buying opportunity after all there will be another generation of people comming after this one who will make exactly the same mistakes that we have made (while telling themselves that they have a new economic paradyme) so we will get to profit from them if we have patience.

I know what you're saying isgraham-but according to our estate agent the real problem is our house isn't a 1st time buyers house. So unless we want to sell at 1st time buyers price (we're not that desperate thank God!)we may not get a sale. We've listed at a hugely reduced price hence my use of "reasonable" & have never waited more than a week to sell our previous homes-we're not unrealistic with value.
So with your advice in mind & to quote my aussie bother in law"slash that price sell that house" ....We'll have a rethink when we get our visa in our hand!!

Since prices seem to be falling in parts of OZ as well, it may be worth considering to lower price. I mean, is is about how much 'profit ' you can make or how badly you want to get out to OZ?

Please remember that everyone's circumstances are different. Its so easy to post on here and make sweeping statements about people dropping their house price. Its not about profit for everybody and there will be people who cannot drop the price below what is outstanding on the mortgage.

I have reduced mine to the absolute minimum that I can afford and the agent says that its a good price. Still nothing. I have also done all the obvious declutter/neutral decorating etc that tv gurus tell us stupid folk to do.

There is just nothing moving in my area at the moment so we have to wait it out.

We have decided to rent the house out rather than delay our move and hopefully it will sell eventually.

Our sale has stalled - people at bottom of chain have pulled out

Well, we put our flat on the market while waiting for our visa to come through. The visa has now arrived, but the flat is still for sale. :(

"Reasonably priced..." - yes, a very difficult phrase. How about "the same price as I paid for it 4 years ago"? We've had 3 buyers interested and make an offer, but had to pull out as they couldn't get a mortgage. I wouldn't want to be a first-time buyer right now - the amount required for a deposit is eye-watering.

If we don't have a sale by the end of the month we're onto Plan B and renting it out.

That is definately wierd! We are hoping our buyer gets a buyer soon. Mind you our visa isn't through yet so it's not critical just now. Would be great to see a pic x

Thats not good, i hope you both get your houses sold, hopefully another buyer will be interested at the bottom of the chain or someone wants your house.

Good luck :)

Our buyer still wants our house thankfully, but he needs to find a buyer now...fingers crossed! Know anyone who wants a 4-bed semi?
