Browsing through realestate.com to look at houses in Glen Waverley that i cant afford
I came across this, someone surely would have to be completely insane to buy this for that amount of money

Nothing surprises me anymore. It's all about location. Friends bought a small 2 bedroom unrenovated bungalow on less than 600sqm in Cheltenham for 790k
at the weekend. It backs on to a park and is close to schools, shops and on the bayside of the Nepean highway. They were up against pretty keen potential buyers at auction. Anything on the other side of the Nepean goes for at least 50k less.
We paid 512k for a 3bed 3bath on 680sqm in the north eastern suburbs about 40 mins from the CBD. I'll never understand what warrants such price differences. All down to what people are prepared to pay for a location I guess.

Place in Fawkner went for over 800,000k last weekend. That wont mean much to many people on here, but Fawkner is just one step up from Broady. It's the right side of the ring road though, and people that cant afford Coburg/Preston/Reservoir are moving there. Fawkner is probably one of the fastest capitol growth areas in Melbourne right now.
Was a nice place though.

I'm sorry but why on earth would anyone spend that amount of money on a house like that!!!
I know nothing about GW,so can somebody tell me why it would command that amount.

I know, as i said you would have to be insane, but will keep an eye on it to see if it sells, anyway the biggest attraction about GW, is the public schools are excellent and i would say the majority of residents are chinese, so chinese keep moving here.

However for the price people are paying for houses, they could surely afford to send thier kids to private schools! in other suburbs, ohhhh i dunno know really, the housing market in melbourne is completely crazy and with 1,600 peeps coming every week i cant see a slump coming anytime soon!

yeah, know wot you mean, i like it though, but would ultimately prefer somewhere quieter, too busy for me, but it is a nice suburb.
