Default house fell through!!!!!!!

hi

some of you may have read my thread a few days ago, excited that in 2 weeks we would be in brisbane in our new life!!!!

well some 3 days later dream gone (for now anyway) due to exchange and the people buying our house have pulled out a the final hurdle don't ya just love the way we sell houses in the UK (not)

so am wallowing in self pity at the moment crying and feeling quite devasted even though so many people around me are saying its not a real disaster, it feels like one at the moment and i am sure tomorrow i will pick myself up and brrush myself down and be all jolly and positive again but at the moment we are gutted as you can imagine!!

i have a job to start mid march that i don't know weather they will postpone the date and have de cluttered my house so much it looks quite minimal ready to move - thank god we didn't book flights (only un offically with a friend) and ship our stuff over early - see i am always looking on the bright side just wish i could winge really well!!!

any wany thanks for reading

Sorry to hear that.

I'm right in the final stages of my house sale. I'm waiting to exchange contracts at the moment, although my buyer seems ok, there's a hold up elsewhere in the chain and I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for the call from the solicitor. My house sold 3 months ago and still waiting to exchange.

The movers are coming tomorrow to take the boxes away, so if it happens to me I'm in shtum! Haven't booked flights yet though.

Anyway, hope you find a new buyer soon, I can fully understand your dissapointment, and agree, the way houses are bought and sold here in the UK is totally ridiculous, pathetic. I'm 3 months in and still no deal.....crap.

Sorry to hear that I hope when you put it back up for sale it sells fast and you get a higher price.

We have just accepted an offer on our house today so we are beginning the long wait to exchange with fingers crossed.

Good Luck, Neil

Mel

exactly the same thing happened to us in August except we'd shipped the stuff and already had the plane tickets.

We bit the bullet and moved anyway leaving my bro with Power of attorney. Found a job and kept paying the mortgage over there as well as renting here.

Finally sold it on Jan 12th , cash has been transferred and we have signed a contract to buy a 3 acre place over here.

Don't give up on the move so quickly, speak to whoever holds your mortage and see if you can convert it to an interest only until it's sold that may cut your payments. Get onto the estate agent and get them to relist it and prioritise as they will be losing their commission unless it's sold.
Once you know your options you'll be better placed to decide whether to stay or go.

God, really feel for you both, Oz and Mel, this would be my worst nightmare!
I'm sure the 'real' buyers will be along soon enough and your journeys can continue.
Good luck,

Unhappy Re: house fell through!!!!!!!

... Same here (sigh)

3 months wasted and buyers pulled out last week (week before exchange) We're left with Doree Bonner boxes everywhere!

& this is the 2nd time this has happend to us in 18 months trying to sell.

Appreciate how u r feeling (no words to describe it is there)?

It had better all be worth it - thats for sure!!!

why doesnt someone change the UK way of purchasing - buyers should put ££ where mouth is when make an offer, not be able to walk away 3 months down the line and leave you with expense of solicitors, fees etc. Its absolutely shite system....
