Two hopes I'm afraid - Bob and.....

Seriously mate, you've got no chance and yes, your age (by the time you get anywhere) will go against you!

HGV driving is not a skill in demand!

He will also have to re take his HGV license. My OH has HGV Class 1 from UK, means sod all here I'm afraid - like lots of other things!

Had to re-do mine also - 17 years held in UK, means Jack out here! Now got my road train license (purely because I could) but shan't be using it - far too much hassle for my liking!

Yep, they're right I'm afraid. My hubby is a HGV 1 driver but also a truck mechanic as well. He has managed to find a sponsor who will take him on as a truck mechanic but the driving is a no, no due to the unions opposing it. There was a loophole before all the changes came in where by you could go over temporarily on the 457 but as I say that has been stopped now.
Are you qualified in anything else other than driving?
Or have you concidered working in Canada? there are some great oppertunities out there if you fancied it and I hear it's easier to obtain visa's for Canada? Don't quote me though.

Good luck and sorry I can't be of more help,

Leah.
