Default Help - Plumbing Licence

Just returned from a reccie trip to Mandurah area (not decided where to live yet !). I'm a time-served plumber (17 yrs) and I've been having trouble findin out info about getting plumbers licence (drivin me mad !! )

Was interested in email from Scossie that if you're scottish you can get a licence just by takin your qualifications/references to the office. Anyone know - what office & what kind of/how many refs (bet its loads !).

My Qualifications are - YTS:1988, ScotVec Stage 1, 2 & 3: 1987,88,89
City & Guilds Craft: 1987/88

Would really appreciate anyones help on this, gonna be moving prob end of year maybe into next year.

Cheers

Mark

I'm not sure of the process for the TRA as yet and know nothing about plumbers but here is a link to the TRA http://www.workplace.gov.au/workplac...oroverseas.htm

Give it a good read and hopefully someone in the know will post something a bit more useful

It's a bit hard to get your head around and there is lots of different stories on how hard/easy it is. Also it doesn't help that it varies from state to state.

It's one thing I'm dreading when we get there !!

Might be worth PM to Karen and Ian. She was at the Scottish Lassies Day Oot II and mentioned something about Scottish Federation of Plumbers being part of the World Federation of Plumbers (England is not apparently). Hence why it's easier with Scottish Qualifications/licence...

Cheers

Found this World Plumbing Council.

http://www.worldplumbing.org/cont1.html

If so then all of Britain has full membership.

Pretty much all Scottish Plumbers hold a license from, (wait for it.........).....
The Scottish And Northern Ireland Joint Industry Board For The Plumbing Industry.

If you have this license, WA will issue you with a Plumbers License on the spot.
They don't have a licensing scheme in England & Wales which is recognised by WA, so Plumbers from there have to go on a course & sit an exam.

This is the nearest I could find to a website for the above licensing body:
http://www.amicustheunion.org/pdf/SNIJIB.pdf

Here's the website for the office in Perth where you take all your qualifications etc.

http://www.docep.wa.gov.au/

Hope this helps...

Hi mate am interested in the info about snijib , found this site under construction, www.snijib.org/ .
was wondering if you could give me some help on this, im a firefighter originally from musselburgh but in liverpool at moment, and training to be a plumber(dont laugh, wish id got a trade earlier.) dont have time or money to go to college for 3 or 4 yrs.
when ive got my c&g and am working in the trade can i and how would i go about getting snijib registered.
was planning on joining the iphe but dont know if theyre recognised in oz.
plan on getting there within next 2 yrs if all goes to plan but after reading on here the probs some people have getting recognised over there makes you wonder if its worth the hassle of retraining,(might as well jump on a plane and disappear when you get there).not a total virgin did 12 mths work visa in oz bout 10 years ago and loved it.
thanks for any help.

Hey mate,
Dunno how it goes if you are living in England, but I received my first SNIJIB card automatically when I started my apprenticeship.
They just sent me it through after I'd signed my apprenticeship papers.

When my time was out they sent me an upgraded card as an, 'Approved Plumber'.
2 years later they upgraded it again to, 'Advanced Plumber'
I never had to do anything. They did it all for me!
