Help:How to get the Extra Baggage allowance
 

HI everyone:

Just got my OZ PR and planning to relocate next month. This is my first time here on the Barbie. I hope someone could help my out here.

I'm getting a one-way ticket thru Singapore ailines and was wondering how to get the extra baggage allowance(40Kg).

Has enyone done this? Pls. share how you went about it if you were successful. I asked a local travel agent but they weren't familiar with this.

Any help is appreciated!!

Just e-mail them and they will send you the details. All PR visa holders who haven't validated are entitled to it with Singapore Airlines. [email protected]

If you are having a stopover however, you may have difficulties. :)

I'm not planning on any stopovers 'cos I'm 5 months preggy;)

Is this the general email address? I reside in Japan. Should I be writing to their office here?

Hi Cath. Do you mind doing another one. We fly next Friday and although they told me over the phone I am eligible without any confirmation, i prefer to have something in writing.

haha - i didnt read it like that, thankfully. good to help though. Bit reassuring that its not just me that needs something physical to take with us. The thought of an an argument at the airport isnt good.

Who you flying with? Singapore may let you have an extra 10kg's if you ask them nicely, not so sure about the others as it's pretty difficult getting extra with a PR visa!.

Wendy is right about the 457, we took our baggage up to 30kg when we were travelling oz a couple of years ago. We didnt pay any extra - although we were coming back and oz emirates made us unpack and re-distribute weight as the case was too heavy, thats all. Bit embarrassing moving stuff out of your case into clear bags they give you.

No probs though with PR with Singapore if based in the UK. Other countries have a different agenda with regards to extra weight. I think Wendy may mean difficulty with other airlines getting extra baggage on PR.
