Hi,
Yes I too want advice re this.
I only really use the PC for photos emails and to update my website. I am tempted to go to PC World where I think for a fee (of course) they will transfer your data for you.

Macbook - small, quick, cheap, easy to set up. For a basic laptop they are hard to beat and even for a PC user they are pretty intuitive. I am not a Mac afficionado by any means but I have been impressed by their speed - having none of the PC bloatware does make them much faster than my PC.

sod the macbook, just get yourself a cheap dell laptop (and don't bother with the extended warranty and extras) to save yourself another few $100. You can get an inspiron 1520 for $1,149 at the moment. Whereas a Macbook, with worse specs, will set you back at least $1,700.

And unlike the macbook you can use your dell as a doorstop when stops working and you have to call the tech support in India.
