Yep - its that time of year again when the streets are full of red and white and everyone celebrates all things English.
What are you doing this year to celebrate? Have you chosen which civicly hosted party you'll be visiting?
<nothing?>
No parade down Brisbane's Queen St Mall? No speciality days in the pubs around town? What is this glaring omission?
pfffft. Someone should at least be quoting Shakespeare and drinking real ale somewhere....
...anyway - Happy Birthday me!!!!!

Ah St Georges day.
I think I will do the do the most English thing possible to honour this day.
Nip down the bottle shop and buy a oversized plastic bottle of nasy cider get shat faced and push a few shopping trollies in the local small river.
Nothing more patriotic than the sight of an upside down shopping trolly in a stream and a few Tesco shopping bags stuck blowing in the wind on a metal fence, it is an image that is enough to bring a tear to your eye.

Good luck to you.... wish I had the faith to find any prospect of enjoyment in the UK in the future, but that faith seems to have been destroyed.

I remember when there used to be shops in Swindon....in fact it was the nearest shopping mecca for me when I was growing up, as Salisbury was not much cop, (too posh,) but I only went twice a year when I needed new shoes!!

Best tell the Daily Mail they got it wrong in this article then
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ands-shut.html
Picture came with the following caption...
Depressed: Boarded up shops in Swindon, Wiltshire. Mary Portas complained that many areas had been 'clone towns' and said the recession was giving an opportunity to create something new.
