Well I just finished my last day at work for a month! Off to the UK for 3 weeks on Monday.
Not sure how I feel about it to be honest
I'm not looking forward to almost 30 hours on a plane! and not looking forward to the weather over there. Temps of 6 & 7 degrees are not my idea of fun
especially when we're in my favourite time of year here in SA...spring.
I just adore spring...yes even with my hayfever (which I have only developed this year!?)
I am looking forward to seeing my 23 year old son though. I have missed him like crazy this past few year. He has a new girlfriend too, so I'll get to meet her at last.
I am also looking forward to seeing my brother. I will be staying at his house, so will no doubt see him more than anyone else.
He has just told me that there are winds of up to 80 miles per hour just now
I don't know if he's just trying to put me off going though
There's two really good things about my trip though, they are:
1 -I am going on my own. No other kids, or hubby or anyone...I get a whole 3 weeks and 4 days of 'me' time
2 - I get to see someone I have admired for 25 years in concert...not once, but twice
My thoughts on Etihad flights, the UK, concert and other pictures and general chit chat to follow on this thread from Tuesday

Bon voyage, I'll be interested to hear how Bratfort is looking, the pubs, shopping in t' centre, curry houses etc oh and how cheaply you can get your brother's weekly supermarket shop in for.

Seeing MH will more than make up for the weather I'm sure. Have a great trip and hope you like the girlfriend.

Wendy, beware that time on your own. I went on my own last time, and travelling between places was dead horrible on my lonesome. I did that a fair bit...probably 5 or 6 times in 6 weeks.... between places like Rhyl and Crawley.a long trip, with stops in South London and Mkeynes in between.... I swear it's one of the reasons why I came back seeing the UK in such a negative light last time around. It's taken me quite a while to get over my last trip. Maybe the train would have been better
It was great being on my own for the first 3-4 days... then I felt orrible... there again I did it for 6 weeks, whereas only 3 weeks may give you a different mindset.
Everyone is different though, and some people may really enjoy themselves without having to worry about other peoples needs. I honestly thought that was going to be the case with me.... but it wasn't
Try and enjoy... I did enjoy my families company. Just wish they would come this way instead. It would be a lot easier as there is so much more room here in most of the houses here.
I wont go back without my Wife again.... and she doesnt want to go..... Well not to stay in England anyway. We've hit a compromise and may stay in Northern France for a "different and unique" experience, near Eurostar next time and do weekend/quick weekday visits to the family. Certainly better off with your own space thats for sure.
Hope it goes well Wendy, Should do, your a bright and positive person.

Ooooh, do try to get pics of the boys please. I saw them in concert back in the day, I must have been 14 or 15.
I was soooo in love with Mags! He's more my type than MH... I'll leave him to you!
Enjoy the trip and the alone time Wendy!
