Default Graduation Gift

Hi there

We are going over to the UK in a couple of weeks to attend son's graduation from Leeds University. I am looking a gift to get for him...I want something he can keep. Any ideas

Thanks

Sharon

p.s He got his degree in Music and said he would like a grand piano for graduating.

if he has been through what i'm going through with my degree then may i suggest a lifelong AA membership?

seriously... depends on how much you want to spend?

A lot of unis do the graduation teddy bear with college scarf/ cheerleaders outfit... worth contacting the uni to see if they do?

Alternatively if you are any good at photography hwo about a montage of graduation photos taken by you and presented in noice album/ frame

or hows about (and this is what I want if any one is reading this) the tried and tested rolex oyster.... (most graduates prefer this one)

Depends on what you want to spend. My mother paid for my brother to go on holiday with his mates once he graduated. He went to Norway and loved it.
But he can only keep the memories of that.

What does he like, jewellery, clothes etc....

believe me he has come close to needing the AA membership....only kidding. I have contacted the Uni re Teddy Bear and am waiting to hear back from them. I had already decided on a framed pic (but love your idea of a montage) and the Rolex is a little out of my price range.

What are you doing your degree in ?

Pay the debts his has accumulated whilst at Uni!

Seriously - what about a vintage bottle of Port. One he can lay down and drink at a later date.

Another one could be some original sheet music.

A really nice pen - a Montblanc or something similar that will last him forever and a day

Buy him a really really nice fountain pen. Mont Blanc, or Waterman perhaps...

Mont Blanc is expensive but you can cut your costs if you go through ebay. Some of them are limited edition and will last a life time.

Depending on where you are stopping on your way back to the Uk you could pick up a Montblanc duty free. One way of saving a few pennies.

Funnily enough I have just looked at ebay and they have a pen in a gift set with classical music as its theme...that would be perfect. Will keep an eye on it.

Thanks again

Sharon

p.s If I get that sorted all I then have to do is convince my hubby to get on the plane (he has never been out of Australia before)

surely if you are paying for a ticket for him to come and see you, that is enough!

tend to think... either you are a multi millionairre (but wont be for much longer - do you wan to be my new bestest mate?) or being taken for a ride!

(my degree is a specialist practice nursing degree.... I finish my course in August and would like a new car for my graduation present please )
