Re: Good book

I recently read 'Room' by Emma Donoghue. It's written from the perspective of a 5 year old boy who, along with his Mum, is being held captive (think Josef Fritzl )
It doesn't take too long to get used to the style of writing (written as if being told by a 5 year old) and it's a really good read. I couldn't put it down, wanting to know what happens.....
I recommend it :)

I often found Keenan off-putting but their joint effort Between Extremes : A Journey Beyond Imagination isn't bad either.

I had a private beer with Brian after a book signing in London, something to do with my time in Beirut,a wonderful man,so full of compassion and forgiveness, and great craic n all, certainly made me think about my feelings towards the terrorists that kept him captive.

Thats what comes through in the book, no matter how dark things were he still has real human interest in his captors, almost seems sorry at times for the position that they are in having to guard him, rather than just being concerned about his own predicament. I expected to read real hatred towards them, but didn't find it.
He must be a fascinating man to talk to.
