Default Gold Coast - any advice??!

Hi,

Me (ex-pat)and hubby (Aussie) are currently living in Sydney and thinking of to Gold Coast at some stage next year. Hubby originally from there but not lived there for 10 yrs, so just wondering how employment, schools etc are there. Also are people friendlier than Sydney-siders? Am guessing it has to be a yes (hubby convincing me it's one big happy family there but not buying it!)

Have seen some meets organised on here so know there are some of you Gold Coasters out there. Any advice you're able to give would be most appreciated!!

Thanks

x x

Hmmmm........personal opinion here, but I would question your hubby further on this one! Can't comment on how they compare to Sydneysiders though as never been there.

People are very friendly IMO. Not met any unfriendly people but as to whether they are better or worse than Sydneysiders I couldn't tell you. Soapy lived in Sydney for 2 years before moving up, he'd have more idea.

Thanks for opinions - although not sounding too positive if I go by you lot though!! Re Hubby "one big happy family" comment - it is for him as his old pals are still there.

Soapy - If Sydney better then do you think you'd move back this way?

What about work etc - enought to go round or do you end up commuting to Brisbane?

Cheers for help people !

we moved here so we could by a house. one of our biggest regrets was leaving the friends we had in sydney, something we would hate to do again.
maybe once the kids have left us we might think about it. but i doubt if that will be in the next 10 years

its much easier to find work in sydney. i am amazed at how many people from the coast comute to brissie

i think you really need to sit the hubby down and ask him how bad things are in sydney for the family, because if it aint broken...................
