Going back to UK for a holiday
Well I finally booked our tickets back next year for a visit. Got them for $5700 for 3 of us on the A380 with singapore at Easter so not a bad price. I am not shitting myself cause I am terrified of flying. Helpful tips gratefully received.

Re: Going back to UK for a holiday
I just flew back to UK with Singapore but was only on the A380 for the first leg - it was a 777 the rest of the way.
On the up side - you wont even know on the A380 you are on a plane. We took off into a huge storm and we were warned we would have severe turbulence for first 3 hours due to high winds - felt absolutely nothing. Take off and landing much smoother - my ears didn't pop once.
Have a good trip!

Just dont get it about people who have to plan so much ahead of time.
When I go back, it's usually no more than a month from when we decide. (and no, I aint rich)
I couldnt stand the wait of months, or years...

Also - maybe some people have to book holidays in advance from work? Or work round school holidays? Or when their veggies are gonna need harvesting or lambing season or......or......... One mans prison is another mans castle and all that!

Well if we all booked our tickets when you did (I did actually but thats by the by ) they'd be really expensive forever and none of us would get cheap deals.

You can't organise a simple trip to the uk because you have lambs or a crop to harvest ?
I think you should re-evaluate your life, it seemingly lacks substance & drive....

This is British Expats mate! Do not underestimate the ability for a nightmare, made or self-made, contrived or otherwise, expected, unexpected in any scenario! For we all know, Joho has a MIL and a FIL the stuff of fiction..etc etc...Heathrow might be locked down, the roads might be gridlocked..on the other hand the weather might be 'lovely'. Who knows?!

You're 30,000 feet in the air in a wafer thin aluminium tube held together by a million small rivets relying on thrust from four flaming engines devouring tonnes of highly flammable fuel stored under your arse to generate enough 'lift'? . . . WTFs 'lift'? . . . to keep you from crashing into the ground (if you don't break-up at terminal velocity first) . . .

If you are nervous about flying, go to the doctor and get some Valium. Do not mix alcohol with it of course.

Valium does nothing for me unless taken in high doses. Alway have some due to my health problems. I know its unreasonalbe to be scared, I know i have more chance of being killed by a donkey, but It doesnt help my head space, I meant to say 'I am now shitting myself', not 'I am not shitting myself' in my first post. Spartucus thanks for that you really helped LOL. I dont consider 5 months well in advance but thought I had better hurry up as its Easter.
