....for a months holiday or maybe not a holiday but to catch up w family and friends. We havent been back for a while and not sure whats the best method for accessing funds whilst were there.
Should we:
Take a load of cash
Use aussie credit card to withdraw from the wall
try and reactivate our UK account and transfer funds
travellers cheques (not sure they still exist)
regular visa card (everyday account) and withdraw from wall
any thoughts?

I rarely bother making any special arrangements for holidays these days, my usual cards work in most countries.

I had issues in a couple of shops with my regular debit card, but none at all with the ANZ one. I also knew how much I had to spend without having to do mental conversions all the time.
Other banks do them as well, so worth shopping around a little to see which gives the best fx rates.

Eftpos cards work in most UK ATM's with the Plus sign on them.

Agree with this. I would look at minimising bank transaction costs and maximizing forex rates in our favour. Look at 28 degrees MasterCard for a start. Compare with what your bank offers.
