There's nothing funny about the Test cricket rankings ...... ho ho ho.

Though on a deadly serious note. Its been a wonderful world cup so far. Lots of action, lots of upsets. Fantastic stuff.

You know more about this ranking than I do - I also noticed that some countries seem ranked absurdly higher than others. England seemed ranked quite high.

The International Rugby ranking are also funny - there is of course not massive movements in the top 10....

A quirk of mathematics if you like. Australia were out immediately they lost; England weren't, it depended on 3 subsequent results all going their way, first one didn't, they were out; quirk of the points in respective groups.

Football and rugby rankings etc - any sport where the players or teams don't get the opportunity to play those ranked above them week in week out to improve their ranking (like tennis) - are fundamentally flawed but there's no way around it I suppose. Clubs won't allow more international matches and there's even talk (from Harry Redknapp) that some players asked him not to play for their country (give me a sick note boss).

Chiellini uses his shoulder on Suarez's teeth. I can't edit my earlier post to say Suarez has bitten twice, in Holland and England - now add Brazil.

Would any sport put up with 3 acts of cannibalism?

It's absolutely disgraceful. I was having this discussion with my eldest son about this last night.

They should make an example out of him while the worlds media are focusing on him.
He needs a hefty fine and a long term ban from the game.

He's a good actor though, I'll give him that.

Totally agree. Liverpool are in a nice position - they face paying him his recently agreed £10 mill p.a. salary (yes $18.1 mill p.a.) while he sits out a lengthy long ban and can't now sell him for the 100 mill euros Real Madrid were offering that Barcelona were thinking of topping. I wonder with his previous record if the Liverpool lawyers had the sense to put in a 'you bite again and the contract is null and void' clause? ;)

I bet Liverpool are kicking themselves. £10 mill? Jesus! No wonder he's behaving like a two year old with temper tantrums, what the hell has he got to lose, apart from a tooth or five?
I hope Liverpool lawyers have had the sense to write up an appropriate contract for him.

Footballers salaries have a lot to answer for. They should be payed by their performance and behaviour on each game. You'd soon see them buck their ideas up.

Reportedly he wants to sign for Bayern Munich, apparently he wants to try a shoulder of Lahm:blink: :getcoat:

Yes, lots of jokes doing the rounds.

Suarez in the last WC deliberately handled the ball on the line to deny Ghana a winner and Uruguay took their place in the semi instead when the penalty was missed. The boy has a long history of cheating, diving, handballing goals and cannibalism. Apparently FIFA's maximum sanction is a 24 match ban and they cannot ban him for any longer.

Headline in a UK paper (because Barcelona are dropping their interest):

SUAREZ FOR NOU CHOMP

Suarez's lawyer beggars belief, he claimed it was just a small isolated incident in the match and that it was an English and Italian plot to get him in trouble.
