I believe humans are contributing to global warming, also displacement of animal life, matter just changes state so if there are more of us then there are less of other things.

Amazon rain forests are being cut down at an alarming rate and why should they not want to have the prosperity of the developed world but it will come at a price we all have to pay.

There is an island of plastic rubbish in the middle of the pacific swirling around, cannot tell me that is good for us.

I have always been worried since I was young, always used to think we throw all this stuff out and where is it going and its a lot lot worse now.

I can understand that people want to believe it is not happening why would we want to change our lifestyle, well I probably won't have to but my children may and if I have any grandchildren I am certain they will and that is what we should be thinking about.

Most people do not think of dying but we do there is nothing more certain and we will all be gone in a hundred years, so let us think for the future generations if we want immortality of some sort.

We are going to be just like the dinosaurs disappear one day and if its gets warmer and warmer may be sooner than later.

The points you raise are valid and most need to be sorted out but they do not relate to MMGW i.e. what is being imposed on is in Copenhagen - they are separate issues.

Yes but we don’t think Humans have anything to do with it.

I believe, along with thousands of scientists, and millions of other people that Climate Change is a completely natural cycle, has always happened, and always will. Look at Mars and Pluto; they have been warming up..... Is it those pesky aliens and their 4WD’s?

Greenland has more Ice Now that it did thousands of years ago. Glaciers are melting (it’s Ice, that’s what Ice does). But many Glaciers are also growing.
The Earth has been much hotter before and much cooler before.

Stop being so ignorant in thinking that you as a human are so significant and can change this planet, it has been here a lot longer than us, and will be here a lot longer after we are gone. To think that you are more powerful than it is ridiculous.

Manmade Climate change is just the newest Religion, with millions of followers who don’t question things.

Sad really, and in many years people will look back and laugh at the people who thought Man was changing the climate... just how we now look and laugh at people who thought the earth was flat, or the people who fell for the Y2K panic.

Hope you are right but I think changes to the earth over its existence have been found to have cause so in my opinion not completely natural. We are too many people now, we have tipped the scales in my opinion and we owe it to find ways of living kindly with the environment if we want to survive. We may survive but how and in what way. Locked in a bubble. We have to have the discussion and its the people who have to demand the way its tackled. If we do not like the way govs propose to do it we have to let them know.

Personally I believe nuclear is the way and I know its fraught with fear and problems but just breathing these days is killing us too. They cleaned up the environment in the uk many years ago and now we should look at doing the same further afield in the world.

It's interesting that you bring up - in this context, as do others in the same context - Y2K, as if to somehow "prove" that the issue was a non-problem.

I spent over six months tracking down and fixing Y2K bugs in one program I myself had written and documented, so as to eliminate Y2K errors that would crash it. Without that work the program would have been useless after Jan 1st 2000. Millions of other programs had to be altered, too, at massive cost.

The Y2K problems didn't happen - *because* of what you call "panic", and because action was taken in advance.

Perhaps, rather than using Y2K as an example on the sceptic's side it might be used more as an example of combatting a known problem before it becomes critical?

Whereas there were some major Y2K problems that needed to be rectified, the problem was nothing like that portrayed in the media (because it was a good story) and in the industry (where it created a lot of work).

Old people stocked up with food, believing that canned food production would be stopped. What utter bollox is that?

If I had to guesstimate, Y2K was 1% fact and 99% hype, and the 1% fact wouldn’t have affected us anyway.

(And yes, I worked on Y2K too).
