Re: getting a dog - rescue?

We have a rescue dog in the uk by the name of Colin the Collie alias the prince of darkness. He has so many hangups that they are to numerous to mention some ok and some that are beyond belief
Colin's been with us 9yrs this november, mad as a hatter but sweet in other ways but we will bring him to oz as he's part of the family(god help Australia:ohmy:)
Anyway if you should pick a rescue dog take your time when choosing don't let your heart rule your head like i did.Do some research on the different breeds ,look out for strange behavior there could be many underlying problems as you would have no info on the dog's background whats happened to the dog, mistreatment etc etc.
And remember a dog is for life and not just for xmas.
Oh and because Col's a nutter we got a normal dog as well a very placid golden retriever called Lou:)

So I understand why they were reluctant to give him to us, until I explained I'd owned springers before, and I knew the breed are a bit mental.
And he is... :p

But there are so many plus sides to him as well.... I'm just struggling to think what they are at the moment.

We knew someone once who placed them and she was so strict on who she'd give them to the dogs weren't placed for months just adding to the dogs stress.
