I wear comfortable shoes. I also have very short hair. However I'm straight, but not narrow. 
I know lots of gay expats in Sydney. My best friend in the whole wide world is a gay (male) expat in Sydney. You're obviously looking in the wrong places.

I left all my gay sidekicks back in the UK - I miss 'em.
You get a much better level of bitching from a gay bloke. Thank God for skype! But its just not the same as sat together in a bar 'discussing' the clientele.
