Full Moon Parties

Re: Full Moon Parties
I'd just like to register the fact this thread interests me but I can't be arsed to get into the detail right now ... I am medicinally numbing everything I can in the hope of a decent night's kip ... I'll be back tomorrow with more insightful comment ... I know, you won't lose sleep but this Quick Reply has got too long to discard ...

Re: Full Moon Parties
I had a brilliant time there before I had the kids.
Just like anywhere else - it makes sense to stay with your partner /friends and not go away from the crowded areas.

Re: Full Moon Parties
There are parties like this absolutely everywhere in the world*, drugs and booze are never heard to find and just to reassure parents I've been to a few in Thailand and Cambodia and the $3 buckets of booze are nothing of the sort - heavily watered down local stuff.
I love the way the writer of the article has so clumsily attempted to sensationalise what is virtually nothing... Thailand is not a particularly extreme nor frightening place by any stretch, there are international hospitals and English speakers everywhere and the police are pretty liberal. No biggy! Find a real story...

And they've been going on for years!
It's 12 years since I was at one - and they weren't new then

Re: Full Moon Parties
Yup, no idea how this suddenly got top billing on the trash news sites yesterday. Granted, I probably wouldn't send a 17 year old kid to one but then I don't see it as being much different to schoolies...probably less high rises to fall out of on KPN.

Re: Full Moon Parties
I went to one of these in the mid '90s. It was okay and I had a blast but I've been to better parties. There are a lot of wankers there. It was pretty relaxed and I can't see it is any worse (or better depending on your viewpoint) than what goes on in the west.
