Apparently used too much and it rots the wipers.

I've always suspected that it could encourage corrosion of the bodywork that it and the meltwater drains over. Not an opinion based on facts - just a gut feelng.

BTW, its 2 deg c here and it's melting away at last . I miss my bike

I live in one of the highest villages in England, where the snow is always deeper, yet all the schools in the village have stayed open throughout all of this hectic weather. It normally takes me 10 mins to get the kids to school, but lately it is taking me 1 half hours I got stuck in a ditch yesterday and not one person helped me. I had to ring OH to come and get me. No snow today but really icy.

Another 3 inches here this morning. Trouble is, it's lying on black ice so it's not good to drive in.
Photo's taken this morning from front and back of my house.

I have to say I would be sooooo over it by now. Lovely to have for Christmas and over the holidays but enough I think is enough. I don't think my mother has braved the outdoors since it started in December except to be driven to my sisters for christmas dinner.

I honestly love it and hope it lasts another month drinking in my local with the snow coming down and a roaring log fire is my idea of heaven plus all the kids are actually outside on sleds and building huge sowmen.

Enough is enough! Even the Daffs are struggling.

Coldest winter for 30 Years!

The coldest winter season for more than 30 years will be capped off with more miserable weather, a forecaster said today.

London received a sprinkling of snow yesterday, while snow showers also affected other parts of the South East.

England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have already seen the lowest temperatures for more than three decades according to MeteoGroup.

The provisional average winter temperature of 2.4C (36.3F) in England was the lowest since 1978/9, and there is one week left of the season to go.

Conditions look as unsettled as ever, as a warm front moving northwards from Cornwall will bring more snow across parts of the country later today.

The Midlands, North Wales and northern England could see 2 to 5cm, Tom Tobler from MeteoGroup said.

There will be rain and possibly sleet in the South East, while Scotland will remain cold and could see more snow tomorrow.

Mr Tobler said: "Once that's moved through we are in some milder air, but it's going to be fairly cloudy and unsettled as the cold air gets pushed away.

"England and Wales will be unsettled with heavy rain and brisk winds, then we may see the cold starting to return later in the week." Next week also looks unsettled, he said.

MeteoGroup said yesterday that using the Central England Temperature series, which covers a large area from Lancashire to Oxfordshire, this winter is the third coldest in the last 50 years and 10th coldest in the last 120 years.

Other figures, not yet published, show that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland also had their coldest winter season in the past 30 years.

Michael Dukes, forecast manager for MeteoGroup, said: "It has been a remarkable winter. Perhaps not quite as snowy as winter 1981/2, but the longevity of the cold is something most of us have not been used to."

Yesterday, roads were disrupted by accidents on major routes, train passengers had to cope with delays caused by a series of overruns of weekend engineering work, and some flights at Luton airport were disrupted.

Anthony James Farley, 19, from Bettws, near Newport, who died on Sunday after ploughing down a snow-covered hill and hitting a car was named by police. His 23-year-old friend suffered head injuries.

In the Lake District, rescue teams were deployed to find three walkers feared trapped in the snow.

The weather will always be an issue for some people. I have learnt that being healthy, happy and not moaning is a fantastic cocktail

It does seem like a longer, darker, wetter, colder, crummier, winter this year. And to top that the bike is on the blink so I have to struggle past the workerless road works to get to work in the car for the rest of the week <grrr!>

'Feeling better now that's off my chest
