Default In-flight entertainment systems

Some of you who are planning flights over here might be interested in this artcle from the UK Sunday Times. Looks like Emirates comes out on top:

I think the 6' screen is a little small on Singapore , 9' would be much better.

Emirates has a great entertainment system as long as your on a newer plane which has the new ICE system installed. Sadly we flew 6 legs with them last time and only 2 of these had the new system the other 4 all had the older system and theres a world of difference.

Was thinking the same thing, never experienced these new planes we got the emirates old rattler service, truly awful. Think the new ones go into melbourne, certainly not brisbane.

Virgin Atlantic use the same system as Emirates (Video On Demand etc), but do not have as many channels. Still has approx 50 films, 20 TV shows, 15 games, 10 audio channels to choose from as if that isn't enough.

I've just done a trip back to blighty with Emirates, and was disappointed with the inflight stuff. It wasn't 'on demand' like Singapore Airlines - you had to follow the programme and wait for your film to start. There was a choice of 10 or 12 things at each time slot, but if my son had been flying, he wouldn't have been able to watch the same film back to back, as he could on SA. Admittedly still a million times better than just the one film, but maybe I was just on older planes.

And here was me worrying that they'd put insufficient petrol in the tank, not pumped up the tyres and hadn't checked the screws that hold the wings on since the thing was delivered.

NOW I've got something really important to fret about <g>.

What about the Qantas "Q" entertainment system? I'm flying with them next week to the UK and am wondering what it's like?
