Fish and Chips Bayside Brisbane

The much anticipated British fish and chips shop is opening tomorrow, near the balti restuarant in Birkdale. Anyone going? The kids and I are going to get lunch there. I'm looking forward to some plaice and scrampi.

I was there tonight as my daughter is working there part time, and they had staff training tonight, so all the family were invited to sample the fish and chips, and it was yummy!!!!

I had forgotten how good proper chips taste with lashings of salt and chip shop vinegar!

They even have deep fried english mars bar on the menu

Ah that's fantastic news. I've really been looking forward to a proper fish and chips. I think its the same couple who run Britain on the Bayside. They do a great job down there. Birkdale is turning into Little Britain.

Yeah I thought deep fried mars bars was the domain of the scottish only??

I'm so moving to Brisbane if there is decent fish and chips there. Jesus I miss malt vinegar *slobber slobber*.

I sat and watched them from the Balti ;)

I've never been sure why people are so disappointed with Australian Fish and Chips where the fish is fresh and cooked in front of you with more choice of finish..

So is it the chips that people are mainly missing?

have to agree, I've had the best chippys here, the fish is lovely and fresh, rather than back home and cooked to order, no problems with the chips either...

In Perth they were all frozen chips, hence the problem.

I only like Haddock, hence another problem;)

You're right mate the queues were big, approx 40 mins worth for us  and it just never seemed to relent as when one person went out another went in ! Must say though it was well worth the moosess waiting in it :sneaky: Truly Scrumptious they were,a big thumbs up from me  Didn't exactly look the biggest portions but they were filling i must say ;) Don't let the price put you off people cos the old English proverb of "Don't let your heart rule your head" is superseded on this occasion by the old Murton proverb of "DON'T LET YOUR POCKET RULE YOUR BELLY" :D

As Arnie and Aussies say ...........................I'LL BE BACK :fingerscrossed:

Yes for me it was the chips I missed, and it was great to have british style chips again.

I was very disappointed with the fish I got, it was plaice in breadcrumbs deepfried to death. I think if I got something out of a Birds Eye frozen fish box would have been nicer.

So the chips , thumbs up, fish, thumbs down, and price, thumbs way down.:(

I reckon the solution might be to order the fish from nearby fish and chips shop (fresh local fish), and the chips from the British chip shop. They're within 1 minute walk of each other anyway.
