HI friens
Got my first interview in Australia this friday
its with the managing director of the company
wonder how do I address him
say....if his name is Michael Robinson...should I address him as Michael or Mr.Robinson?


Nb:the question may sound silly ,but im confused..

I would say Mr Robinson. It's more professional and until you get to know people you are going to work with I will keep the first name basis thing for then. Good Luck.

If its a smaller comany some aussies will think it a bit of a laugh if you said "Mr" ..

If you're worried - address him as Mr on greeting initially - 'Hi Mr xx'. Warm smile, then drop use of it smartly subsequently. Don't come over as a peasant. Idea is to acknowledge his 'status' - a sort of a nod - then crack on.

Call me old fashioned, but I was raised that you call superiors Mr/Ms/Dr unless they invite you to do otherwise. If he's the managing director of the company then surely he will be your superior at work. If he says to call him by his first name then do it, but otherwise call him Mr
