Daughter has been getting into mischief at nursery sneaking up to behind the carers and other children and tickling them just below the earlob with little leafs.

You have been warned :D

Only seen a couple of baby ones so far - no dinner-plate sized beasties. Did notice a very pregnant one the other day which I left to carry on its business - they do a good job on the fly front after all. :)

Just be glad you only seem to get them in the summer!

You have been lucky so far as they are usually around all year!! ;)

Never seen one in the winter.....but then again I have only spent two winters here.
Also, I thought they tend to come into peoples houses to get away from heat.....so in the winter, they would be outside, and so less likely to be seen.

Yer dont like the huntsman much. I've never had problems with spiders, but had two incidents with huntsman - first was one on ceiling and I got a fly swat thing to try to catch it but just as I got under it it jumped on me and i did the spider dance :scared: . Second was when I was going to work and there was one in the car on the pedals - I couldnt catch it and had to get to work so drove with absolute terror and never did find the bugger! Little spiders - no worries - huntsman? no thank you!!! ;)

Nope, you can pretty much get a huntsman running around your house anytime of the year...

You are brave! How did you get him in a glass? Was it a big blighter! I luckily haven't seen one since I've been here - but I had some bad experiences with them when staying with a friend in the country many years ago

He wasn't that big...seen a LOT bigger here!
Put the glass over him, and slipped an piece of paper underneath.
He's decided to leave the bathroom, and have a look round...when I picked him up he was having a nosey round the bedroom

Which edge of the Dandenongs do you live?

Arghhhhhhhhh!! I've filled my quota for the next 2 years! Are all you huntsmen out there listening?? 2 in 2 weeks this January was more than enough. I think one sighting every 2 years is fair and not as damaging to my heart. :D

We're in The Basin - only moved 2 weeks ago (from Aspendale Gardens). Love it here - so quiet and pretty. The Basin is about 5 mins towards the hills from Boronia.

Rachel

BTW - just met a Possum in our back garden, up one of our trees - he was quite friendly and much cuter than a Huntsman :D I'm terrified of finding a Huntsman in my car - the house has been sprayed, so hopefully that'll be OK...

Give it fruit and it will be your friend for life - they love apples :)

Apparently one of the fav hiding places for Hutman spiders...well, all spiders in your car is the sun screen....so try to get in the habit of lowering it in the summer...you don't want one landing on your knee as the sun blinds you !! :scared:

Just don't park under trees & overhanging bushes.

Mrs Bordy has had two in the car, luckily both times they fell on her while she was driving out the driveway although second time she almost cleaned up next doors fence.

How far can they jump/dive? I have to park under a tree - but it's a tall one... I'm hoping that's better than in the garage??......
I had a 3in bug fly down my top on the way back from the Oak Tree pub the other night...
