There is rain forecast for Monday, lets hope the fires stay contained and that the rain does come.

Ive never seen it this bad in my 7 years here. WE are nowhere near the actual fires but I can hardly see the house across the road from me for smoke.
Its like a thick blanket of fog outside.

I just cant imagine it.
I know when i drove up to Albury and saw all the charred trees and grass it spooked me.
I hope those rains come for you all.
Keep safe everyone

MIL in melb said this morning they are saying it has the potential to be more devastating than the historic bushfires of 1930/1980 (sorry cant remember the exact dates she gave).

Re: Fires in Victoria
Hi all, we are sitting on the edge of the fires here and the smoke is really wierd, not to mention irritating to the throat. They are talking of sending people with bad respiratory problems down to Melbourne but I am not sure what sort of help that would be at the moment. Everyone is on alert but things are generally pretty quiet here at the moment. Firends of ours are hoping that they have fought off the worst now that the fire is due to move on south but the farms in the Edi area are all charred and it looks awful but so far there have been no deaths. When I was heading out to the community relief centre at Moyhu it was as clear as a bell with a huge mushroom cloud over Edi (it was really spooky). We made the BBC news which said that Wangaratta was in danger of being cut off by fire (I think that they have their geography slightly wrong unless they know something that we don't).
I hope that everyone stays safe. Good luck everyone!!!

Re: Fires in Victoria
Smoke, and note the brown colour of the state in general, brown as a crisp and that is worrying as the main fire season in vic is more jan/february.
