You have a fingerprint from approx 12 weeks into life in the womb The print is formed mainly by amneotic (sp?) fluid flowing over the baby's fingers in the very very early stages of development. An eventful early few weeks in the womb leads to a more complex print.

Mate, I used to get crinkled fingers having an eventful bath.

You gotta be out quick!

But your fingers would uncrinkle. The prints formed in the amneotic fluid are there for life. Lots of research going on as to what forms the different kinds of prints too, what effect traumatic events have, things like that. Fascinating subject (well, tis for me )
