For fellow Forest followers.....
"A statue of football coach Brian Clough is to be unveiled in Nottingham.
Clough managed Derby County and Nottingham Forest football clubs, making sporting history by leading the latter to two successive European Cups"

Im not a fan of Derby or Nottingham Forest but this statue is well deserved, brilliant manager.
How he never managed England I'll never know!

Because he feared nobody and the suits who ran/run the FA were terrified of the honesty he would have brought.

Lived in the Midlands when I was little and when Forest were "THE" team to support. Many a happy hour spent playing football, with me being Forest against my then boyfriend (aged 7!) being West Brom.
Followed them ever since, through the ups and downs. Clough was amazing, definitely one of my all time heroes.

Very good to see the great mans statue in Nottingham although his side kick Peter Taylor should also be up there with him. Taylor should also have one of the stands at Forest named after him as Cloughie has.
Every fan in the country knew that Cloughie should have been the England boss but the suits in the FA ran a mile after his interview.

No doubt he was a great manager. But why is it in Market Square and not outside the City Ground?
He wasn't from Nottingam? Why haven't we honoured other famous Nottingham people with a statue e.g. Jesse Boot, William Booth, George Green, DH Lawrence. Harold Shipman (ok maybe not the last one).

I can clearly remember him being manager at both clubs, visited both grounds whilst he was in Charge.
I cannot think of a more deserving manager, so a statue for Cloughie is richly deserved.
(unless you include Malcolm Allison ... Opps or Sir Steve...)
Besides I'm not talking to Forest fans this week.

Mr Clough is also held in high esteem by some North Easterners as prior to management the afore mentioned gentleman's football career was as follows
Middlesbrough FC: 1955-1961. 197 goals in 213 league games.
Sunderland FC: 1961-1964. 63 goals in 74 league games.
England caps: 1959. v Wales (Ninian Park); v Sweden (Wembley)
It seems he wasn't very much liked by the England heirarchy in his playing days either as with a record like that surely more International appearances were warranted
If memory serves me right his career was ended through knee injury whils still at Sunderland
A true footballing legend

Just this week??
Indeed. He had an illustrious career in the north-east as a player.
