I say go for it!
Could you not do the occasional agency shift as a nurse if you are having a quiet week?

My opinion Annie is that you should stick your neck out and 'do it'!!
Life is far too short not to make the most of every second, you get 1 shot at it - who cares if you're skint, so long as you're all fed, watered and have a roof over your head, that's all you need!
Grab it by the balls and go for it - as others have said, the nursing will always be there and it's not as if you are ever going to struggle to get a nursing job in QLD is it!
Good luck with whatever you decide!

Annie - Go with the photography
whether you take the employment in a studio or concentrate on building your business
Like you, having done nursing for so long and getting increasingly less satisfaction from it, if I had the basis for working in something I really loved doing, I would be doing it, even if it payed less for a while.
Nursing won't go away while you are busy doing something else, there is always agency/casual work and you can get more than enough of that when you want/need it.
I'm jealous - just wish I had another skill and the foundations for an alternative, creative career already in place.
