Favourite time of year for weather in your State.
#1
Just thought of an interesting question for people on these forums that may be of use to people back in the UK.
Personally as a Melburnian, my favourite time of year is around October/November... lots of mild warm sunny days, everything is green usually and very few flies around. So one can be outside and eat in comfort.
Least favourite time of year would be end of January start of February, especially if its been a dry period up to that point. Tend to cop the blast furnance winds, brown dust, flies and mossies, which goes a long way to ruining the outdoor experience. March through to September aren't too bad... Short days and cold can be slightly annoying sometimes, nowhere near as bad as not being able to move a few yards without breaking out into a itchy bite ridden sweat.
Looking forwards to reading other peoples views in relation to their own states.
It's going to be a great few months from this point on in Victoria.

Summer...Dec-Mar. The hot, windy days are few and far between.

Best:
March. Worst of heat over, fairly stable weather.
Also I like Oct-Jan. (It can be spoilt if the spring is particularly windy or wet).
Worst:
August and Feb..the worst of the cold and heat. In the UK, perhaps people sigh at the end of summer, especially if they were less than impressed - here the new seasons are welcomed!
Having said that I like May-June. Feel wintery but the worst of it has not set in.

SE QLD
Winter, usually sunny, clear clear sky and cool nights.
I dont like summer anywhere in OZ, but luckily SE QLD does not suffer the intolerable flies most of OZ gets so that is a big bonus.
I do like the Storms, huge electrical storms, and the sound of them, never seen or heard anything like it anywhere

In South Australia, the best times for me are Mid March to May and September to November.
Least favourite times are August and January/February.

Not a fan of hot weather so my pick months are August and September.
I like the crisp mornings and "normal feeling" days of August around here then I love the move into Spring with "normal feeling" mornings and sunny days...
I love how the garden starts to come to life in these months (before the Summer sun fries everything that had just got going.)

I like pretty much the period from September to December in Sydney. It is the driest time of the year here and the humidity is low.
As you get towards December you can usually bank on a few cracking storms breaking out.
I actually like the period from June - August in Sydney as well, Winter here isn't all that bad. Sure it can feel cold inside on an evening, but the days can be glorious. I think Sydney has the best winter day time climate in Australia.
The worst month for weather in Sydney I think is February. Humidity can go through the roof making even a 25c day feel very sticky and close. You sometimes get night time temps that don't drop much below 25c and the humidity stays high, sleeping can be very hard to do.
But again you get some fantastic thunderstorms in Sydney.

It's easier to say what time of year I'm not so keen on; January and February when it can get rather sticky.

I like September to November: in September you get clear warm days and can actually go outside without a coat on, and by November I'm in the pool!(unheated)
Dec-Feb is ok, but the sun can be very fierce and I can often get a burnt parting if I forget my hat for a nanosecond. It also gets sticky and hard to sleep at night, and I don't like thunderstorms.
March to June can have some nice days but is unpredictable, and July/August are much too cold for me- cue two coats and gloves on and a wheatpack, and I still have dead white fingers.

Most months are clear and warm in Adelaide. As for most people though, April - September can be very varied, ranging from BBQ weather to howling gales. October - March pretty perfect, minus the heatwaves

Every season but winter in Melbourne, which is just a bit too nippy for my liking.
Having said that i think I woud prefer cold to constant unbearably hot temperatures of some other states/territory, at least you can rug up but you can only take so many clothes off before you are arrested..
We don't have a problem with flies and mozzies at this side of Melbourne that other people complain of? We are in the north east and have never experienced too many at all.
