Harry Vanda and George Young were our Lennon/McCartney or Jagger/Richard from the 60's and 70's - both in the Easybeats, then wrote a lot of famous songs for others. George is older brother of Angus and Malcolm (AC/DC) and wrote and produced some of their stuff like Dirty Deeds. Here's some of their songs starting with a great Titanic song (video very 1970's but it was er made in the 1970's).

We all know this song:

And this one:

And this they wrote for their Easybeats mate (which is the longest song to ever be #1 for your quizzes):

Here's a great one sung by a Kiwi we adopted about an Englishman we adopted:

And one by Dame Edna's brother Gerry (r.i.p) Inxs covered it:

Unfortunately Stevie Wright saw 'the needle and the damage done' as Neil Young would say and the group split up. Vanda and Young started some new groups of their own but mainly achieved success through their song writing. Here's another very good one of their's. JPY was huge in the 70's and had a lot of successive Vanda/Young hits leading up to Love is in the air.

Amazing how the same song means different things at different times in your life, or takes on a new perspective.

Here's another one from Neil Young.

Its no good, I give up trying to fix the links - they should be posting properly but for some reason they aren't even though the formatting is correct..... I'll have another look later
