Default Exmouth and Ningaloo Diving??

Anyone done much diving round here?

I'm off to Broome for a bit of a holiday next week and wondered whether extending the trip to Exmouth is worth it??? I'm looking at stuff like the Navy Pier and the Muiron islands etc. Good viz? Lots of life? I think it's whale shark/manta season now too.

It was a few years ago that we were there but we loved it and had some awesome dives. Would definitely recommend it

Navy Pier is a definite. Lots of other great spots - even snorkelling off the beach!

Might be a bit early for whale sharks but mantas should be around.

we did this about 6 years ago and it was fab. Bit of an unknown gem.

I snorkelled which you can do almost anywhere as the reef is so close to the shore. Mr P and friends dived and they went off the pier which they said was amazing.

We spent a whole week leaping in and out of the water and never getting bored. We stayed in Exmouth and Coral Bay.

Definitely Navy pier. Day dive better than night dive. Murion islands is pretty good too.

In fact I'd give Broome a miss and just do Exmouth.

Snorkelling is good at Oyster stacks, Lakeside, Turquoise Bay is cool too drift snorkel is fun and the other beach at Turquoise has good snorkelling too.

Don't miss Cape Range national park one of my favourite places in the whole of Australia and I've been pretty much everywhere there is to go in Australia.

Broome has other 'charms' for me... staying at some Eco beach place about 2 hours away.

Cable beach was lovely last time I went - you've got to admit running around starkers on your own personal square mile is pretty amazing!!

Provided half a dozen middle aged Germans don't take it as a cue to invade your personal space

As others have said, definitely the Navy Pier. Heaps of life, a really memorable fun dive. Also memorable because it was 46 degrees that day... I think I actually let off a hiss of steam as I hit the water

We did several great dives around Exmouth. I'm a big fan, will have to go back sometime!

You'll have a great time TE

I've done Navy Pier about 4 or 5 times, once at night. Just goes to show what can happen if you prohibit fishing from a jetty in the tropics.

You have to jump in which freaks some people out because it can be quite a big jump sometimes.

Last time I was first in to the water but just before I jumped the sea started boiling, it was a huge feeding frenzy, little fish getting smashed by trevally and trevally getting smashed by sharks.

As soon as it calmed down the divemaster said "off you go mate!"

True story.

It was similar diving in Fiji with bull sharks - the small dive boat was rocking horribly in the sea and as we kitted up there were 2 large fins circling! Needless to say I let my Austrian backpacker dive buddy jump in first.
