Eurovision. Will anybody watch?
Just had a bit of a laugh checking out some of the entries for this year.
Eurovision website has all the videos.
IMO, of the ones I watched
- the French have no chance (honestly, the Compagnie Creole - popular in the 80s - style should NOT be coming back)
- the UK have gone for a stock standard Stock/Waterman ballad with a kid who is a Rick Astley clone with as much personality as said Astley
- Germany's entry is not bad. One of the favourites I think. Very catchy cute tune with very cute singer.
- Latvia's lyrics are ... interesting... (didn't make it to the final though)
- quite taken by the Belgian singer. And for once, he actually wrote and composed the song.
- Norwegian guy is another Rick Astley clone
- Spanish entry is not too bad. At leasts he doesn't look like Rick Astley!
Can't be asked to watch the rest. Will come back later.
Bets are open...

You ought to change this to "My thread, will anyone reply to it?"
Anyway, Eurovision, I won't be watching it for 2 reasons:
1) It's shit.
2) I'm just not gay.

I will be watching it but I'll be missing Wogan's commentary.
I am not gay but have owned a Mazda MX-5.

The Eurovision is frickin genius! If you look at it as a comedy and not as a musical contest (given that there's very little contained in it that could reasonable be classified as 'music') then it's bloody brilliant. Obviously getting horrendously drunk whilst watching really helps, as does having score cards for clothes, 'musical' ability, hair styles and the all important use of tin foil on set. Extra point awarded for use of wind machines and abrupt modulation for the last chorus.
Quality.

Re: Eurovision. Will anybody watch?
Well I half watched (saw parts of it).
The changed rules are good, I feel like a song has a chance to win now based on its musical merits, and not as a result of Bloc-voting.
Funny that Germany won because their only other win 'A little peace' was so popular with all the kids at my piano class years ago Quite a few vocal renditions of it. How many of the songs do you actually remember these days? I only remember the classic Eurovision moments, the drag queen flight crew et al...I wish they'd screen a 'Best of Eurovision' again, always enjoy that
