Anyone remember Frizzets? Came in a cardboard packet as a powder, mix it up to a batter and pour spoonfuls into hot fat, preferably lard. You would end up with a lovely crispy puffy fritter just perfect with bacon etc. Jeez I can taste them now - we would stand at the gas cooker and scoff them down as quickly as Mam could fry them.

The wellies on and out into the Tyneside near freezing murk to school.

So, your perfect English breakfast must contain.... what? For me it's: toast, eggs however, bacon (crunchy), sausage (obviously not in Australia where sausages are mostly inedible), mushrooms, fried potato, beans, and tomato (fresh if possible or canned is fine). Have I missed anything? Oh yes - a cup of tea of course.

Almost snap on the breakfast, but I would have the lean bacon grilled, but not crunchy, and decline non-fresh tomatoes.

Worse for you than whole milk - usually contains more sugar.

We're not talking every day here. I have a "fry-up" as described here (most of which is grilled) about once every three months.
