Small siily question really, that I just cant find the answer to. From an engineering / sheetmetal point of view. Does Austrialia work in metric or imperial. All the references I have seen refer to both !!:curse:

Re: ENGINEERING QUESTION
my OH would like to know this as well! it matters to some people because everything about their job is measurements!! my OH deals in mm and all his tools etc are for mm so if its imperial in oz he's going to have to get new tools out there instead of using his metric ones that he has here. so without sounding patronising - it matters a lot - especially to engineers.

Re: ENGINEERING QUESTION
Because I am in my thirties and all Metric. If I set up a new business over there. I'd like to know what else I need to learn. Plus my UK company makes most things for standard Metric ranges, to our current tooling could not be used.
Anyone actually got something helpful to add :curse::curse:

Re: ENGINEERING QUESTION
Metric as standard, however I do come across the odd very old imperial drawing.

Looking back, after what we've had to go through to just be allowed to emigrate, sleeping on the sofa will be a doddle!!!!
Let us know how you get on please,
Take care and good luck with everything,

Re: ENGINEERING QUESTION
Are you guys serious? any decent engineer I know & even the crap ones always work in both. It's always been the way and I'm 38. For a rough measurement you use mm but for precision stuff it's thou s . As in using a rule or tape it's mm but when you get down to the tricky stuff ie under 0.1mm you revert back to imperial thous & tenths.

Re: ENGINEERING QUESTION
Guys,
I wasn't trying to be funny by saying 'what does it matter'.
I am an engineer myself and work in both metric and imperial. I must admit that I prefer metric and if I do get given a job with imperial dimensions, then I would normally just convert them back to metric anyway.
Sorry if I upset anyone, you are right, everyone has got the right to ask a question and get a decent answer, I just couldn't work out the point of the post in the first place thats all.
Good Luck everyone anyway
