Default Emile Heskey

its a shame for him is'nt it?for some reason football managers think he is a football player and get him to head some peoples favorite teams..
my favorite team and my country, the chap i am sure is doing his best,it must be some weight carrying a nations hopes and dreams on his shoulders,but...

jeezus man,i dont mean this personal,,,but he is shite, absolute shite!!!!!!!!!

why oh why, does he get picked?his poor head must be in a daze, thinking how is this happening to me?should i say no and be loyal to my country, perhaps i will do some thing this week.perhaps get that round thing between those white stick things, past that annoying bloke that keeps picking the ball up or should i just keep taking the money?

pure shite!!!

Personally I thought Heskey had a better game than Rooney last night.

I counted. Heskey touched the ball at least TWICE..

Rooney?.. I think he must've been sat on the sideline having a cigarette break 'cos he sure as hell didnt touch the ball.

Completely agree. Not one Englishman could hold their head high this morning but I would argue that there were much worse players on the field than Heskey. Rooney was frickin awful. Everytime he got the ball his control let him down or he just passed it to the opposition. There were times when I watched him just stand still as a player two metres from him went around him. He needs to feel ashamed to have put in that performance rather than ranting to the world media about our fans giving them the applauds they didn't deserve.

Having Heskey in the team only ever works when you have an out and out striker who scores regularly and is in form. Unfortunately Rooney is way out of touch at the moment and therefore I strongly believe that Defoe should have started.

For me, over the last 8 years, our best attacking partnerships have all involved Heskey, because all of his partners love playing with him because he creates so much more than just scoring goals for himself. He attracts other defenders all the time and that allows other players around him to get into space and scoring opportunities (look at the US game). That is the sort of partner that strikers love (remember what Sheringham used to do for us?).

If you think about it, our strike partnership was shocking when it was Owen and Rooney up front, but when it was Owen and Heskey, or Rooney and Heskey the stats show that the team scores. The only reason it isn't working right now is because Rooney is clearly not 100%.

He has 23 players, use them! But he wont!
If they had played well and the Algerian keeper/defenders had had a blinder, then fair do's but they didnt so give the other players a chance.
Tossers!

Have to admit that I was relieved when they dragged the big oaf off in the USA game, he couldnt even get out of his way in a hurry. His name came up a lot but all for the wrong reasons.

A couple of match facts:

Heskey made 8 "forward half" successful passes, cf Rooney's 16 and Lennon's 9.
Heskey made 13 successful passes all game, 65% completion, Rooney got 25 of 29 (86%).

Heskey made the same amount of successful tackles (6) as:
Terry (0)
Carragher (2)
Johnson (1)
Cole (2)
Lampard (1)
Gerrard (1)
managed between them.

In summary, play Heskey at CB

I'd be interested to see stats on the amount of times Rooney and Heskey got dispossessed. It seemed to me that everytime Rooney got the ball his touch let him down and off Algeria went with possession.

Rooney may as well have not been there.
