(I am a wimp, I admit :o but 6 years in SEAsia and an underactive thyroid don't help.) Can you actually get double-glazing here? If we buy a place I'm going to have to install some. |

Never seen it yet and if you can get it, it will probably cost an arm and a leg, as it will be a 'premium' product. I'm convinced that the glass in my windows here is thinner than the UK.

Re: Electricity Bills
Cheers, ABCD - I figured there must at least be suppliers to commercial buildings.
Now how about gas central heating? :D edit: And yes, of course, in a couple of weeks I will be moaning about not having aircon or ceiling fans. :D |

Then I think they installed aircon & ceiling fans to cool themselves down afterwards. ;) I use reverse cycle air con to warm the place, with the ceiling fans running at the same time, (in reverse), to spread the warm air about. I find that it works very effectively. |
Re: Electricity Bills
I get an electric bill monthly in Perth, my last one was $200. That wasn't a winter bill either. My gas bill was $300 for the month. Far more than what i paid in UK.

Re: Electricity Bills
My electric bills are bi-monthly. The most expensive summer bill was $500, most expensive winter bill $300. Gas is usually about $250 for 3 months.

Re: Electricity Bills
It took me a while to work out why we get gas bills  Apparently it's the hot water.

Up here in QLD, $100 a month direct debit for electric and I've build up $500 credit in one year. Gas $90 a bottle, one change in sixth months. |
