my son wants to do surveying or electrical enginering we will hopfully be going out before xmas. does anyone know where to start looking pleassssssss

Where are you heading?

First of all he will need to finish year 12 so his best bet would be to do years 11 and 12 probably at school and then look at the best way into his vocational training - either degree or TAFE which may lead to degree. In pretty much all states he would be disadvantaged if he didnt do the full 2 year course leading to year 12 assessments.
