It's a bit like the Atkins Diet, which I did for a few weeks years ago. I must admit the Atkins is the only diet where people were commenting after a few days about how much weight I had lost, the pounds just fell off but like anything as soon as you come off it the weight piled on. I did get sick of the whole protein thing and craved a macaroni cheese bake. Give it a go if you need that quick weight loss, beware of bad breath though as eating only protein and some small carbs can make you a bit smelly after a few weeks...

Now that's my kind of diet
Was the hotel as bad as that?
I bought the book a couple of months ago and only last night plucked up the courage to pick it up and begin reading it. Six months smoke free and 8 months job "free" have meant that I've piled on quite a few extra pounds - seems strange really because if anything I thought I was eating less. Must be all the added sugar, etc that gets piled into the food here.
So I've read the first bit and it seems to have four distinct phases. An initial Atkins-like phase minus the fatty foods like cheeses, etc which only lasts for a week or so followed by several other types of food that get added on for phase two and even more on phase three, ending in a normal diet in phase four except for 3 tablespoons of oat bran every day, an escalator and lift ban, and for one day of every week returning to initial phase diet. For life. I reckon it'll take the best part of 9 months to reach phase 4
Hmmm.... What's the worst that can happen?

I pretty much follow a diet of protein with every meal. No pasta, rice or potatoes but a couple of slices of wholegrain bread each week. Lots of vegetables, no more than 150 grams of meat or fish in one meal, soups (in winter) a small portion of low fat goats cheese, fish 3 times a week. This keeps me at about 'normal' weight with exercise.
OH has now started to follow what I eat and has lost 14 kilos so far in only 7 weeks - he can't do the heavy exercise routine I do but he does walk 10,000 steps every day and starts each day with a 5k walk around the block.
No hardship really and I do eat the occasional cake or crisp. We also do quite a few business functions and usually eat what is served but keep away from the bread rolls.

The difference must be very noticeable. Would that be two waist sizes down? No doubt all the excercise helps a lot. I need to get out on the bike a lot more This is just wrong.
Talking food on the one thread and dieting on the other.

I do the same during the week, really watch the bread intake, concentrate on the protein and veggie and salad. I tend to be really strict during the week and let things slid a little at the weekend, at the end of the day you have to enjoy yourself but I don't want to be a two ton tessie either as my old aunt used to say....

), diets don't work.
