Do you take your shoes off at home?
Following on from a previous poster being upset at being charged for cleaning a carpet, tell me. I do feel I am unfortunately in the minority here but I take my shoes off whenever I go into a house as it's most unhygienic to do otherwise.
Do you? If not - why not?

No, we dont.
However I have lived in Eastern Europe and they insist on everyone taking shoes off indoors. Often the locals have spare slippers or flip flops for guests to wear. Highly embarressing at first.
Think it may be something to do with the harsh winters and not wanting crap on their carpets.

Yes. Shoes off at the door. People who leave them on get asked "were you born in a barn?"

Shoes off in this house. Bare feet, thongs, socks or baffies.

Even the tradesmen who come in almost always go to take their shoes off, when they come in. And we have tiled floors downstairs
Actually I don't think the carpet cleaner took his off.... but I may be wrong

Thats only if you're posh though
If you had floors like the ones in my unit you'd want to keep your shoes on, trust me. Too many splinters to do otherwise.

I change into thongs / flipflops or go bare foot when I get home, but I don't take my shoes off at the front door unless they're wet or muddy. I change in the bedroom into more comfy clothes.

Why only a house? Surely it's just as unhygienic to wear shoes at work or in any building for that matter?
