Know what you mean, I made Scouse the night before last thanks to the supermarket next door having some NZ lamb in.....still some left.

Cheese (& bits of ham)on toast with HP sauce is a good quick 'English' snack/meal - even the missus will partake despite the presentation.

try a cheesy hammy eggy:

toast base, nice thick slice of ham then melt the cheese on top. Finnish off with a fried egg. If using as a main meal add chips sorted

Often chop 'em to make oily tortilla de patatas but never ever made proper chips here, bacon's a big miss too - substitute is the huge jamon I brought back from Spain in Jan.
