This what I read on a label at a meat market.

Is this edible?

If it was a 2009 diary you should be OK. Anything before that might be a bit dodgy

And ask about the paper quality. You don't want veal from a calf fed on cheap paper.

Hi Luma

It just means that the calves were fed a milk formula instead of being left on their moms. They are then slaughtered and processed at around 18 - 20 weeks old and the meat is supposed to be more tender and it has a paler colour to it.

In fact most calves, whether used for dairy or meat, are taken from their mothers at, or just after birth as this prevents bonding.

Bonding has nothing to do with it ....

Dairy cows have their babies taken straight away obviously for their milk production and veal industry.

Beef cattle are usually raised by their mom until about 9 months old and are then weaned.

I'm sure there's a pun in there involving Bridget Jones and fat cows.

Would read something like....

Day 1: Oh hello sweet world!
Day 2: F#$k that burns, get that off my @rse!
.....
Day 50: Oooohhh, going on a road trip, how exciting
Day 54: Are we there yet?
Day 60: That's a big nail gun, are we doing some carpentry?

If it was bound in vellum it would be cannibalism, and that's how BSE started.
