Dental Implants in Australia

Hi,
For the past 10 years I've toyed with the idea of replacing a bridge I have where my central incisor (front tooth) should be, with a dental implant. (lost the tooth in a football match 20 years ago).
I can get it done here in NI for about £1500. It will take about 6 months to complete the treatment so I would need to be starting it now if i'm to get it sorted it in time for a move to Oz.
My question is...how do dental implant costs in Australia compare to home? If it was going to be cheaper in Oz then I'd wait till I get there to do it, otherwise I might get my skates on here.
Thanks
Gavin

I am currently undergoing this treatment .... and it is not cheap.
I am having three implants and four new crowns at the front (reminants from previous crowns/caused by childhood illness) and the total cost will be about $18000!!! The implants/surgery cost about $7000 and the crowns will cost about $11000. As I have had the first part of the surgery done (impants in bone and temporary bridge) I am looking at getting the crowns done in Bali as have been told they done excellent work at a third of the price.
If I were you, I would definately get them done before you come out !!!

Sure does
A quick search of this site should help set things straight.
I get my work done on stopovers in Singapore (I'm not the only one) and one BE member has just been to Thailand for hers.

I was told around $5000 for an implant I may need in future.
You might want to think about whether you could take out health insurance and have them pay towards it. Have to admit I don't know whether this would come under a 'pre-existing condition' clause.

I wouldn't claim to be a health insurance expert either but I'd imagine you are correct regarding the pre-existing condition. It would probably be considered cosmetic anyway.

Good to see your still on here seasider. Best job in the world making teeth done it for 28 years & to see someone smile knowing that is your work can be extreamly rewarding. Parents out there it is a trade i would encourage your kids to take up as there is a demand & money is extreamly good if you are able to start on your own.

Insurance covers major dental - including implants. You will probably have had to have insurance for a year to be able to claim, also it looks like the longer you are a member, the more they will pay.

But even the highest level of cover does not compensate you fully! My eldest son has been born without the two teeth either side of his front teeth - sorry don't know what they are called. He starts a 3 step process, the last step being implants, this year at age 15 and will not finish until he is 18. In today's prices they are quoting us $15,000 and we will be lucky to get back $1000pa despite paying $280pm for health insurance.
