...also known as Xmas day!!
Me and the OH will have spend only 3+ weeks in Australia and more to the point Adelaide. I have previously been everywhere else in Australia barr this place...(typical!)
I have the feeling we won't be cooking Xmas dinner so can anyone recommend anything we can do on this 'family' day?
Also anyone recommend a good eaterie in Adelaide (we'll be in the CBD and surrounds) to go to on Xmas day that would serve something nice and economical to eat?
Many thank you's!

We hadn't been in Adelaide long on our first Christmas and ended up being invited to spend the afternoon with some neighbours. If you aren't fortunately enough to have that then I would suggest you head down to Glenelg for the afternoon. If I remember there was quite a party atmosphere down there with lots of people around. For eateries, I'm not too sure what's around the CBD. We were pretty poor when we lived over east, so a big night out for dinner was usually getting all dressed up to go to McDonalds or Hungry Jacks.

The last time I was in Adelaide on Christmas day we had a sandwich in the hotel before taking the tram to Glenelg for an ice cream. They didn't have any turkey ice creams so I guess they were vanilla <g>. Then off to work. Ah, the romance...........

I love this place: http://www.palais.com.au/index.html Not in the city but only about 20 minutes away by car, just send them a quick e-mail and check they are open.
Or there's this website where you can look by location, or by what you feel like eating: http://www.webmenu.com.au/Adelaide/
I haven't really looked around at what is and isn't open at Xmas yet, but there are loads of restaurants in Adelaide, so I would image you will be able to find something suitable

"only in America!"
Wendy, If i'm based in the CBD can I get to Glenelg without thumbing a lift? lol!
Do they have a skeleton crew for public transport on? Do cabs work on xmas day and more to the point, what are their tariffs on a Holiday like this.
Cheer!
