Hello thanks for replying. You are one step ahead of us. We do not have jobs yet. We have two weeks in an apartment, hired a car for the same duration, and intend to look for accomodation.
Heh, so what? Who knows what lies ahead. Meeting up would be good

look forward to your reply

Hi,

We live in Darwin. Moved here from London in January 2007. It is quite easy to settle here. Plenty of rentals and jobs are fairly easy to get.

Hi there,

thanks for the reply, did'nt reply until now as it is the first chance to get online properly. We are actually in Darwin now staying in Cullen Bay Apartments for 2 weeks!!!!! Been looking for property thinking of Palmerstom as we like the feel of the place, and rental prices are not too bad.

We have only seen a small part of Darwin,we have been busy opening accounts and looking at rental. My 16 year old son is going to Palmerston High School we think.Met one of the teachers Tuesday. My 18 year old daughter is not happy, left friends and 3 month old relationship with her boyfriend. We need to get her socialising as soon as, and working so she can meet her own age group. She was looking at university but has said no point as she may not stay.I think she is just being a stick in the mud.She likes her socialising, and should be good, once with people.

Anyway i am 43, my wife is 46. My background is in glass and glazing hopefully should get work soon. My wife has an accounts based background, but she is ready for the challenge of what comes.

If you think it would be good to meet up let me know.

Sounds like things are coming together. We're heading up tomorrow....3400 kms or 40hrs drive...so it'll be 4 or 5 days till we are there...should be a fun trip...and plenty of foto opps..and another chapter of memoirs.

I'll touch base when we get there and are sorted out..maybe all go for a bite to eat or sommit.

Cheers

Hi there,

Hope you and family have all settled in now.
Me and the family are also thinking about a move to Darwin, then again it could be Perth. The wife is not sure whether she wants Darwin or Perth though.
It will probably be about the end of next year before any visas are issued though.
How are you finding it, did it take long to settle in? How are you coping with the two seasons?
If you could post any snippets of advice on housing, work etc it would be appreciated.

We are planning a visit the middle of next year to Oz. Maybe a meet up is in order if you are still there and not moved elsewhere in Oz.
