Default Dale farm eviction.....

Is it about planning permission or are Gypsies being singled out?

If the mayor of London bought some land and then built on it without planning permission he would be made to take it down.....end of.

Im not in UK and have only seen snapshots.....

If it's about unauthorised building - what's the problem? What's holding it all up then

Because to build anything on your "own land" you are required to obtain planning permission - something that these folks decided did not apply to them, if it was allowed every home owner with a garden would build structures on it without permission.
No one would ever need to apply for planning permission. Farmers could build towns without approval. It would be the death of planning permission and the beginning of chaos.
This type of development should have been stopped at the very beginning.

If we need planning permission so do they, it's wrong that they have been able to stay there this long. It's abhorrent they have been able to do so, other than the fact that the person they put out as their spokesperson has massive t*ts and looks like a pornstar and well really makes you think about how good it would be to live next to them Right back on topic... get rid of them

How can they be Gypsies if they have been static for the past 10 years. They have built 63 buildings on agricultural land with no planning permission.

Generally the walls, which are often made of bricks or sometimes wood, or it might be columns, which could be made of concrete with steel inside the concrete or sometimes even just steel on it's own.

They also want the 'right' to stay there - but aren't too keen on council tax/rates etc. Funny that.

Another example of groups that contribute nothing and detract a great deal.

Personally I think they should be allowed to stay, on the proviso that the council rip down the buildings and make them apply for permission to rebuild and back-date council tax on all sites. If they get moved on it just becomes someone else's problem.

They're lovely people. They keep your garden junk free, and you'll always have a lovely new driveway.

Threads merged.

I think I read somewhere that some of those to be evicted actually have 'proper' homes in Ireland. Don't 'travellers' travel any more?

So this isn't a thread about the banning of the poster Dalefarm then?

There's beeen a lot on foxtel recently.. My big fat gypsy wedding, and other such "insightful" documentaries... None of which have helped me understand WHY people who live outside the system should have rights that ose who live inside the system dont...

tend to be on the side of... Planning permission is there for a purpose.

IMHO the UK govt has allowed this situation to develop over such a period of time because of its love of bending over backwards to get shafted by other peoples cultures and beliefs... Its not PC to enforce the laws and rules of the land on communties and cultures other than WASPs....

Runs and ducks for cover
